Meet the Principal
Christina Ulferts graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and immediately began working with the Children’s Advocacy Center at the District Attorney’s Office.
The Ulferts family eventually moved to Illinois where she received a Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Rockford University. After teaching, she decided to continue her education and earned a Master’s degree in administration. She has been a principal in Rockford Public Schools for about 15 years.
Christina is married with three children who all graduated from Rockford Public Schools. In her free time Christina enjoys outdoors activities such as kayaking, canoeing and hiking. In the summer she heads to Colorado to climb the beautiful 14ers. Her passion for travel has led her to over 23 different countries. Three years were spent living in Germany while her husband worked for the Department of Defense Schools. Her favorite travels are camping while on safari in several African countries, meeting people from all over the world, learning about different cultures and viewing African wildlife.
Christina emphasizes a growth mindset in her personal and professional life. She believes all of the scholars at Lewis Lemon can succeed with the necessary supports to get them there. We all have to work together to achieve our goal and with determination, compassion and courage that anything is possible.
